15 Jacopo del Sellaio The Banquet of Ahasuerusc. 1490Tempera on panel, 81 x 44 cmGalleria degli Uffizi, Florence Part of three panels, it was certainly made up a "cassone" or other similar piece of furniture. Having been generically attributed to the school of Botticelli they were recognised as the work of Sellaio. A fellow pupil with Botticelli in the workshop of Fra Filippo Lippi, Sellaio remained during his whole career under the fascination of the art of Botticelli but was not insensible to the influence of Ghirlandaio. These are modest paintings but very characteristic of Florentine taste in the second half of the 15th century. ....Web Gallery Of Art
