Description: [Detail] In the Garden of Eden, singing birds sit on the top of six trees; referring to the beauty of birdsong in Paradise. In the centre, a pelican has her nest on the forbidden apple tree, to which God is pointing. The pelican in her piety is shedding her blood for her children, a symbol of the the blood of Christ.
