Description: The story of the patriarch Jacob’s dream of a ladder (or more likely, a stairway) from earth to heaven (Genesis 28) forms the basis for this illustration, perhaps by Cranach. It is one of several full-page woodcuts by the famous artist that were prepared for Luther’s translation of the Old Testament.
