Thursday, March 29th 2007

I have just ended one harvest of works of art in the "Courtauld Institute of art" as well as in the "Cooperative digital ressources initiative"". Approximately 1 500 new quality pieces are thus going to be added to this site. Some time will be needed to put them in albums.

I try now a new format of album with Adobe. I use the possibility of creating a personal album. But I add an image which is not compressed and with a full Bmp potential. Thumbnails appear now in the form of board of slide. It thus allows to compare quickly a lot of images at a glance to find and keep the best one .

There is a strong demand for slideshows . I must apologize for they are in french only . But I think later on I try to do them in english as well.. Unless you try and send me your achievments ! It should be done in the "mother tongue" .The french "Petite passion de Dürer" was downloaded 50 times one week having been create .Il is true that in the time of Easter, it corresponds to a need .

See you later

Presentation of this new site

The first site :

I thus have create a first site " The Illustrated Bible " and collected during 5 years numeric images relative to the influence of the Bible on the art during the centuries. This work remains on-line but offers only small compressed images which are on 250 Megabytes. Nevertheless these albums had their charm and are still demanded...

The novelty: for a price incredibly low, I do not compress or reduce any more the images because I have 10 Gigaoctets place in memory . Thanks to 1&1, the company of computer service in Sarreguemines. Doubtless the vidéoprojection or the small colored printed matters will be improved.

I thank by ending Jean Daniel, Hugues, Thibault and Marguerite for the competence of their technical advices and their encouragements.

October 2006 Some thoughts about this site

The Bible is a public and visible media

The bible was initially oral tradition, then it was written for the rich or religious classes. It was magnificiently illuminated on manuscripts. The bible became then printed, engraved, painted and carved at the time of the Renaissance . It became thus with the range of all and a great part of our Western cultural inheritance - It is here that was born the Protestant Reform .

Today, the bible is proposed in the schools and the universities, including Internet, beside the other great texts of humanity. Each Sunday it is read in the majority of the Jewish or Christian worships in different liturgies. It is thus offered to an independent, pluralist and possibly conflict approach thus preparing the ground with a philosophical or theological personal approach.

A visible media pointing at the invisible

Thus, the judéo christian hope becomes public and secular to join the men the women and the children of today. It is the same movement that we read in the visible and secular incarnation of Jesus-Christ who founded a concrete humanism, open to an invisible God and and an invisible faith.

Faith which has opened out in the environment of the worship, its preaching, its song and its eucharist for 20 centuries. The faith which is gift of God, fruit of the Spirit and which is a dimension of my freedom. We wish it with all those which come to see this site. Here you find happiness ! . "How happy are those who beleive without seeing me " Jean 20:29

The faith which grows and develops today in the churches of the apostles sent to the world by Jesus. Of which Peter Iohn, Paul and the others who inaugurated “The history of faith”. This history became "credo" and "confessions" and it is served today by many church institutions and pastors.

It is the background of the iconographic interpretation of the bible. An interpretation which becomes then, with the music and the hymns, a dimension of the liturgy of praise having its place in our lives . It awakes our love and gives a hope to our ethical engagements .

June 2006

I resume the research in internet (Galleries,Museums, the best of the Joconde's base). There are better informations on places and medias on the title. There is now a new type of album with Adobe Photoshop. Now I would like to offer a better documentation on the bible and "image reading". .

October 2005

Demand is growing and collection is growing !

25 % the last sixth month .Now an average of 55 people staying 20 minutes each day .Partly due to very good Brioude referencing and eStat. On the other hand artists begin to propose their work and museums are more generous .

Informations on metatags

In this collection ,the majority of the images contain historical informations on IPTC metatags your can read with Irfan view (Free) Iview mediapro or Adobe photoshop (Since 6).Most of them are underneath large images in the albums..All the new images are only accepted with sources .Old images are replaced wherever possible by images with a more precise documentation .

Goal

Students and teachers of the biblical writings should be interested with this project .It is the only place on internet where they can find here biblical, chronological and topical tables of works of art( 10 000 remain to be classified , it is in process ).Those archivs are a wide base of datas open to every kind of esthetic and theological schools and interpretations .My aim is to share with people not having time or money to search or buy this kowledge.

I experimented images are good enough for videoprojection even on a very wide screen .For paper printing in colour it is only possible in a small format. .

Hello !

My name is Maurice Lamouroux and I am 69 years old. I live in the south of France in Valence.

For a long time I was radio ham with the full licence (Station F6HQL). At one time the only possibility with small means of reaching Australia since France. This means that I have more than 10000 contacts in Morse (which I still practise with skill and of which I like the music and the rythm).I also practised RTTY and Packett radio which prophesied Internet.

Then, I left the network radio ham for the network of the Web because there is not there only one technical objective but also it is possible to share very diversified cultural interests.

Currently my hobby consists in collecting with other net-friends digitalized copies of images of art inspired by the bible We find them in Museums, galleries, private newsgroups scans, individual scans -You can send me, for instance ,2 or 3 images by mail on the subject with precise and verifiable references- jpg 800/600 pix-.. Then the collection is classified in albums - Chronology, bible books, topics-It should be a useful as a base of datas for teachers or students.

During 35 years I was Pastor full-time in the French Reformed Church ( Presbyterians) . Auxiliary military chaplain in Algeria during the war and then hospital chaplain in Lyon. Very happy in the parishes of France :: St Gaudens, Albertville, Annemasse, Lyon, Valence, La Voulte..Now retired and active on the net..

cordially

Virtual art and religion

What is virtual art ?

.Iit is immersion in an imaginary reality created by works of art on the computer screen. An art used today by teachers and historians among many other resources , but which implies both research into historic exactitude, of aeshetic quality and a sense of criticism. A minor art compared to the wide screen image of Lelouch, perhaps, but an art easily copied and which will be more and more used in teaching. Images being used with videoprojectors or transparent documents for retroprojectors, or simply the screen.

General sources on virtual art and religions

In face of the universalization and globalisation of economy and thoughts, search engines on internet remain our best chance of liberty and secularity, if its users adopt a sense of criticism which can be acquired by great practice. Financial pressure is very strong but the search of knowledge and truth , must remain free !

Please note that in France we have a unique historical experience of the fact that secularity ( Laïcité) is the best way to peace between religions and freedom to practice our beliefs . And we want to share it with the rest of the world :-).

That is why I can say freely :" I believe that Jesus is life, truth, and the way towards a God who is the creator and father of us all"

If the specialist of a great historical religion different to mine wishes to associate himself with this research , he will be as welcome as a brother. We could then imagine a new site on "Virtual art and religions". In the meantime, each of us can begin by having a personal idea on the subject. There are some search engines among many others:

Google : repertory/society/religion and spirituality

Yahoo :society/religion
